Bulb Recruitment was founded in 2017 by Matt Sheppard, an experienced recruitment professional whose career began in 2003.
With a background spanning multiple sectors, including Oil & Gas, Matt’s core expertise lies firmly within construction and engineering recruitment.
His approach has always been consultancy-led—prioritising quality over quantity and building long-standing relationships with both clients and candidates.
Under Matt’s leadership, Bulb Recruitment has grown steadily, driven by a clear mission: to place top talent in roles where they can thrive, while helping businesses build high-performing teams.
In 2024, Jeremy Bonner joined the business as a Consultant, bringing fresh energy and a focused commitment to mastering the M&E market.
Together, Matt and Jeremy provide a highly responsive, knowledge-driven service that helps ensure the right people are matched with the right roles—consistently and effectively.

Matt Sheppard - Founder & Director
I began my career in recruitment in 2003, gaining valuable experience across a range of industries, including Oil & Gas. Over time, I found my true focus in construction and engineering, where I’ve built long-standing relationships and developed a deep understanding of the M&E building services sector.
My approach has always been consultancy-led. I don’t believe in simply sending out CVs and hoping one sticks. Instead, I take the time to really understand the needs of both clients and candidates—because successful recruitment is about more than just filling a role; it’s about finding the right fit for both parties.
I work closely with high-calibre professionals and leading companies across the UK, building strong partnerships based on trust, transparency, and results. It’s this relationship-driven approach that led me to establish Bulb Recruitment, with the aim of offering a more personal, thoughtful, and effective recruitment service.
Today, I continue to lead the business with the same passion and commitment, focused on delivering quality recruitment solutions that help people and companies thrive.

My career has always been one of my biggest priorities. I've consistently been driven by a desire to grow, challenge myself, and make a meaningful impact through my work. Interestingly, recruitment wasn’t something I had considered—until the opportunity arose to join forces with Matt at Bulb Recruitment. It was a chance that felt right, and one that quickly evolved into a passion.
Before recruitment, I built a career in the health and fitness industry. I ran my own business, hired and developed teams, coached individuals, and gained a deep understanding of what makes people tick. That experience gave me a solid foundation—not just in leadership and communication, but in truly understanding people, their motivations, and their potential.
At my core, I’m empathetic, honest, and naturally curious. I care about people’s stories—what drives them, where they want to go, and how I can help get them there. That mindset is now central to the way I work in recruitment.
